SAN DIEGO, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis program won its fourth consecutive match and capped a successful week with a 4-1 win over Penn on Sunday afternoon at the Hogan Tennis Center.
Pepperdine (5-5) took leads on all three courts to begin doubles.
Linus Carlsson Halldin (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Pietro Fellin (Milan, Italy) took court three 6-1 to open the scoring. The Waves wasted no time clinching the doubles point from Penn (5-5), as
Maxi Homberg (Freising, Germany) and
Eero Vasa (Turku, Finland) won 6-3 on court two to give Pepperdine an early lead heading into singles.
Although the Waves only won two first sets to open singles, those two first set winners gave Pepperdine a 3-0 lead after Fellin defeated Baylor Sai 6-2, 7-5 on court six and
Eric Hadigian (Sacramento, Calif.) took down Harsh Parikh 6-3, 6-3 on court four. Soon after, Penn earned their first point with a three-set win on court five.
The remaining three courts all went to third sets. Pepperdine took control in all three, as #61
Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) closed out the match with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory on the top court over #66 Edoardo Graziani.
