Waves' Mouw Garners WCC Golfer of the Month Acclaim

MALIBU, Calif. – Senior William Mouw, of the Pepperdine men's golf team, garnered the first West Coast Conference Golfer of the Month accolade of his career on Tuesday afternoon after leading the Waves to a trio of top-three team finishes and a win at The Prestige last month.

In February, Mouw () averaged 70.33 strokes per round and tabbed four below par rounds out of his nine rounds played.  He moved up from the around the 40s in the Golfstat player rankings at the start of the month to #15 at the end of the month, which is better than any other West Coast Conference player.  He currently is ranked #14.

Mouw finished in the top-10 twice and top-20 in all three tournaments, including a second-place finish at the highly competitive The Prestige, helping the Waves to the tournament title for the first time in program history.  He shot one shy of his career-best round with an impressive 65 in the first round of the tournament and finished 5-under overall.  He also tied for fifth at the equally challenging Southern Highlands Collegiate, posting another round of 65 in the final round, to finish 8-under overall.  He tied for 15th at the Waves' own Southwestern Invitational as well.

Along with a title at The Prestige, Mouw helped the Waves to a second-place finish at the Southwestern Invitational and a third-place finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate.  His performances came against strong competition as well, as there were eight top-35 teams at the Southwestern, 10 top-30 teams at Southern Highlands including four top-10 teams, and eight top-35 teams at The Prestige with two top-six teams.  At The Prestige, he beat out the #2, #3 and #6 players in the nation, falling to only #4 Ludvig Aberg from Texas Tech.

This season, Mouw has averaged 70.47 to lead the Waves in scoring and has amassed six top-20 and four top-10 finishes.  Throughout his career thus far, he has posted a 71.00, which is good for third in the Pepperdine men's golf record books.  He has amassed 26 top-20 finishes, 17 top-10 finishes and one tournament win, while shooting below par 57 times in 119 rounds played.

Pepperdine will be back in action at Arizona's NIT, traveling to Tucson on March 17 and 18.
