Pepperdine Falls to Boston College in Game Two

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine baseball team fell 3-0 to Boston College on Saturday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium. With the win, the Eagles evened the series and forced a rubber match in game three.

The Waves (1-1) fell behind in the top of the first inning 3-0 to the Eagles (1-1) and were unable to put a rally together as Pepperdine and Boston College were both scoreless after the first inning.

BIG WAVES
  • Junior infielder John Peck (Moorpark, Calif./Moorpark HS) had the squad's only hit of the game.
  • Sophomore RHP Bobby Christy (Odessa, Fla./Sickles HS) threw 3.0 innings in relief to close out the game, allowing only one hit and striking out one batter.
GAME RECAP

In the first inning, Boston College led off with a walk. After the Waves got the first out, the Eagles stole second to put themselves in scoring position and then Boston College sent a single to right center that scored the first run of the game. Patrick Roche of Boston College hit a homer over the left field wall to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

Through eight full innings, it was a defensive duel on both sides of the field as the Waves made contact on almost every at-bat, but it was right to an Eagles player. In the final bottom half of the inning, Boston College went three-up three-down to collect the victory and even the series.
