HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Pepperdine women's beach volleyball duo of senior
Kristine Briede (Balozi, Latvia.Riga State Gymnasium No. 2) and sophomore
Gabriella Perez (Loomis, Calif./Del Oro HS) wrapped up pool play this afternoon at the AVCA Fall Pairs Championship.
Today's pool play was done in a round robin format as Pepperdine entered the tournament in a pool with 15th-seeded Hawaii, 18th-seeded Stanford and 50th-seeded Arizona.

MATCH RECAPS
In the first match of the day, Stanford started off strong as they took the first set. Pepperdine forced a third set after winning the second 21-14, but the Cardinal ultimately took the win.
In the second match of the day, the Rainbow Warriors collected a first set win. The Waves extended the match to a third and final set after winning the second 21-14, but Hawaii was able to take the victory.
In the final match of the day, Pepperdine found success against Arizona as they cruised to a 21-15, 21-15 win in straight-sets.
POOL RESULTS
Stanford went a perfect 3-0 on the day, whereas Pepperdine, Hawaii and Arizona all went 1-2 in their matches. The Waves finished second in their pool and advanced to the championship bracket thanks to a better set win ratio on the day.
UP NEXT
Perez and Briede will open championship bracket play tomorrow morning. The duo enters the round of 32 as the 30th seed and will take on the 3rd-seeded duo of
Savannah Standage and Julia Westby of Long Beach State at 8 a.m. PT. on Saturday morning.
