MALIBU, Calif. — The #5 Pepperdine water polo team fell to #16 California Baptist 20-13 in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament.

- Graduate driver Ryan Brosnan (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor HS/UC Santa Barbara) had a hat-trick in the game while also collecting four assists.
- Senior attacker Christian Hosea (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) led the way for the Waves with four goals.
- Sophomore attacker Adam Csapo (Budapest, Hungary/BME International Secondary School) had two goals, two assists and two steals in the contest.
GAME RECAP
The Lancers scored the first goal of the game, but
Jon Carcarey (Lompoc, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS) quickly tied the game 1-1. California Baptist then found the back of the net to take a 2-1 advantage. Carcarey and
Matty Walsh (Laguna Beach, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) then scored back-to-back goals to give the Waves a 3-2 lead. The Lancers scored four times in the final four minutes of the quarter, and they took a 6-4 advantage into the second period.
California Baptist opened up the scoring in the second quarter, but
Csapo countered with a goal of his own to make it a 7-5 game. The Lancers then scored three-straight times to put them in front by five, 10-5. Both teams traded goals to end the period and California Baptist took an 11-6 lead into the break.
Hosea found the back of the cage to start the third quarter to make it an 11-7 game. The Lancers then rattled off three-straight goals to give them a 14-7 lead with 2:57 left in the third quarter. Csapo and Hosea added a pair of goals for the Waves to end the period and make it a five goal game heading into the fourth quarter, 14-9.
California Baptist held a 17-10 advantage with 2:18 left in the contest thanks to strong defense and a few more goals. The Lancers ultimately won the game 20-13.
