MALIBU, Calif. — The #6 Pepperdine water polo team completed a fourth quarter comeback against #5 UC Irvine as the Waves defeated the Anteaters 13-11 at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool on Saturday afternoon. Pepperdine outshot UC Irvine .419 to .355.

- Graduate driver Ryan Brosnan (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor HS/UC Santa Barbara) scored one goal, dished out four assists and had two steals in against the Anteaters.
- Senior center Travis Reynolds (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif./Loyola HS) scored four goals in the game.
- Senior attacker Curtis Jarvis (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS) tallied two goals and five assists for a total of seven points.
GAME RECAP
Reynolds found the back of the net on the Waves second possession of the game to give them a 1-0 lead. The Anteaters countered with a goal of their own, but back-to-back goals by
Adam Csapo (Budapest, Hungary/BME International Secondary School) and Jarvis put Pepperdine in front 3-1. Each team scored once more in the period, and the Waves took a 4-2 advantage into the second quarter.
UC Irvine found the back of the net on its first possession of the second period to cut Pepperdine's lead in half, 4-3.
Jon Carcarey (Lompoc, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS) then scored for the Waves to put them back up by two, 5-3. The Anteaters once again trimmed the Waves lead to one as they scored another goal, but
Sandor Gal (Budapest, Hungary/Leovey Klara Gimnazium) found the back of the net for the second time in the game to give Pepperdine a 6-4 lead going into the break.
UC Irvine started the second half with a pair of goals to tie the game six-all.
Nico Tierney (Sierra Madre, Calif./Harvard-Westlake HS) found the back of the cage to give the Waves a 7-6 advantage. After a timeout, the Anteaters scored three-straight goals and took a 9-7 lead with 0:56 left in the third quarter. Reynolds then scored his second goal of the game to bring Pepperdine within one going into the fourth quarter, 9-8.
After trailing to begin the fourth quarter,
Anthony D'Ambra (Rolling Hills, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) and Jarvis both found the back of the net to put the Waves in front 10-9 with 3:33 left in the game. UC Irvine countered with a goal of its own to tie the game 10-all with 2:13 left to play. Reynolds then scored back-to-back goals to put Pepperdine up 12-10, which sealed the game for the Waves. Pepperdine ultimately won the contest 13-11.
Pepperdine was led by Reynolds who had four goals in the game, and a total of eight Waves scored in the contest.
