Waves Shut Out Dons 4-0

San Francisco, Calif.  – The Pepperdine women's soccer team shut out San Francisco 4-0 for its sixth consecutive win on Wednesday night at Negoesco Stadium.

The Waves (9-3-5) and Dons (6-8-3) played out 34 minutes before Pepperdine was able to find the back of the net when Tori Waldeck scored a pair of goals within a 13-minute period. Kelsey Adams added another goal on a penalty kick and Kyra Murphy would finalize the Waves' win after adding her first collegiate goal just a minute after.

Pepperdine will take on Gonzaga on Saturday, November 4, at 12 pm at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, Calif. With Pepperdine's win tonight and Gonzaga's tie with LMU, a win or tie for the Waves on Saturday would earn the squad the WCC title outright and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

GOALS

Pepperdine 35': The Waves were able to take control of the ball on the Dons end with help from redshirt freshman midfielder, Kyra Murphy (Riverside, Calif.), who sent a right-footed pass to senior forward Tori Waldeck (Newhall, Calif.) at midfield. Waldeck passed by a defender to the top of the box where she placed a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner of the goal.

Pepperdine 48': Playing the ball on the offensive side, sophomore defender Taylor Bloom (Huntington Beach, Calif.) pulled out around her defender on the right side to send a pass to Waldeck. Finding the ball at the top of the box, Waldeck sent another left-footed shot straight to the back of the net.

Pepperdine 80': On a penalty kick opportunity, junior forward Kelsey Adams (Long Beach, Calif.) sent a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner to secure another point for the Waves.

Pepperdine 81': Off of a saved shot by the San Francisco goalie under a minute later, Murphy fired the ball back to center the goal with her right foot to earn her first-ever collegiate goal. The shot was just out of reach for Dons' defenders, crossing the goal line, and securing the final Waves' goal.
