Pepperdine to Host WCC Cross Country Championships

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete on home course for the West Coast Conference Championships on Saturday morning. The Waves will have 10 runners on both sides. This is the first time in a decade Pepperdine is the host of the WCC Championships and only the second time in program history the Waves have been the host of the championships meet.

The race will take place at picturesque Alumni Park, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, on Saturday morning. The women's 6K will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 11 a.m. Both races will be live on ESPN+ with a subscription required.

MEN'S TEAM

Graduate student Will Bullock (Marietta, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain HS/Eastern Illinois), senior Johnathan Flint (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS), junior Elias Spence (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area HS), sophomore Patrick Thomas (Paso Robles, Calif./Mission College Prep) and freshman Dominic Silhol (Mequon, Wis./Homestead HS) were the top runners for Pepperdine this season. All four Waves posted their season-best showing at the Bronco Invitational, including Flint, Thomas and Silhol marking their names on or higher on the Pepperdine all-time performance list.

Flint beat his personal record with a time of 24:17.2 and still sits eighth on the Pepperdine all-time list. Thomas moved himself up on the Pepperdine all-time list from 16th to 14th with a time of 24:447. In his third collegiate 8K, Silhol collected a time of 24:58.3 and marked his name 17th on the Pepperdine all-time list. Senior Nate Lannen (Southlake, Texas/Carroll HS) also notched his name on the all-time list, after his performance in Sunnyvale. Lannen collected a time of 25:19.2, which is a new personal record and he now sits 20th all-time.

Last season at the WCC Championships, the men's team placed seventh and were led by Bullock, who ran the fastest WCC Championships men's time in program history and a personal record of 24:03.3. Bullock's time still sits third on the Pepperdine all-time list.

WOMEN'S TEAM

Senior Elle Shrader (Boerne, Texas/Boerne-Samuel V. Champion HS), sophomore Abby Winter (Edina, Minn./Southwest Christian HS) and freshmen Hannah Bruner (Redmond, Wash./Lake Washington HS) and Lizzy Crawford (Thornton, Colo./Horizon HS) were the top runners for the Waves' women this season. Crawford led three out of the four races and posted the second fastest 6K time in program history. Crawford collected a time of 20:52.2, which was 13.15 seconds away from the school record. Bruner and Shrader also ran personal records at the Bronco Invitational. In just her second collegiate 6K, Bruner ran a 21:36.5 and moved her name from 19th to sixth on the Pepperdine all-time list. Shrader also moved into the top-10 on the all-time list to eighth, as she earned a time of 21:45.2 in Sunnyvale.

During the 202 WCC Championships, the Waves women were led by junior Megan LaCamera (Burbank, Calif./Burbank HS) for the second year in a row. The women placed 9th, which was their best since 2014.
