Pepperdine to Compete at Bronco Invitational for Final Regular-Season Race

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country team will compete in the final race of the regular season in Northern California at the Bronco Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The meet will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale. The top runners will compete in the Invitational races (men's 8K at 8:45 a.m., women's 6K at 9:30 a.m.). Additionally, there will be Open races (men's 8K at 10:15 a.m., women's 6K at 11 a.m.) and the Waves will have a presence in all four races.

The Waves will be back on the course in two weeks at the West Coast Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28. This season, Pepperdine is the host of the WCC Championships and it will take place at picturesque Alumni Park. The race will be live on ESPN+.

NOTABLE
- The men's and women's are coming off a strong performance at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 16, where multiple runners earned new personal records. Both squads had a combined 13 runners set new personal records for themselves. The men's team placed 12th and the women's placed 14th, respectively.
- Freshman Lizzy Crawford (Thornton, Colo./Horizon HS) led the Waves for the second consecutive race and earned a 25th-place finish out of 172 runners in the women's 6K invitational in a time of 21:07.2, which puts her third on the all-time list. Crawford's time was just 28.15 seconds away from the school record, which is 20:39.05 held by Chelsea Wishard and was 9.92 seconds away from passing head coach Lauren Floris (nee Lodge) 6K time which sits second all-time at 20:57.28. This was Crawford's collegiate 6K debut and the first time since 2018 a women's runner has put her name in the top-5 on the all-time 6K list.
- Crawford was named West Coast Conference Women's Runner of the Week on Sept. 19, following her UC Riverside performance.
- Senior Elle Shrader (Boerne, Texas/Boerne-Samuel V. Champion) crossed second for the Waves in a time of 22:07.7, which was good for 78th overall and beat her personal record by 48,8 seconds. Shrader also etched her name 13th on the Pepperdine all-time list.
- Freshman Hannah Bruner (Redmond, Wash./Lake Washington HS) collected a time of 22:20.4 in her collegiate 6K debut which marked her 19th all-time list.
- Senior Johnathan Flint (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) led Pepperdine in the men's 8K invitational placing 28th out of 214 runners. Flint's time of 24:19.7 is a personal record by 14.4 seconds and moved him up one notch from ninth to eighth on the Pepperdine all-time list.
- Flint was named WCC Men's Runner of the Week on Sept. 19, for the second time this season.
- The Waves swept WCC weekly honors for the first-time in program history on Sept. 19.
