Waves Start Strong at Mark Covert Classic

BREA, California – Led by junior Johnathan Flint's third-place overall finish, the Pepperdine men's and women's cross country team started the season off on the right foot on Saturday morning at the Mark Covert Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton.

The men's team took fourth out of 13 teams in the event (and was third out of the Division I teams) held at Carbon Canyon Regional Park.

The women were led by sophomore Megan LaCamera (Burbank, Calif./Burbank HS) with a 32nd-place finish in a time of 19:43.6, which is a new personal record by 10.3 seconds. The Waves' women placed eighth out of 14 squads at the meet (and was sixth out of the Division I teams).

Head coach Lauren Floris said: "Today was a great day for the Waves! Jonathan Flint has made great strides over the summer and led our men's team to a strong finish. On the women's side our goal was to place better last year and they improved their placement by two spots. We're very pleased with where the team is at this early in the season."
