MALIBU, California – After another two-week break, the Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams are back on the course and will host the Waves Invitational on Saturday morning. This will be the first time since 2017 that Pepperdine has hosted a meet.
MEET DETAILS
The meet will be held at the picturesque Alumni Park on Pepperdine's campus in Malibu, with the men's 8K beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by the women's 6K at 9:45 a.m. The Waves will also have a community 5K prior to the collegiate races at 8:15 a.m. The schools that will be competing are Loyola Marymount, Cal State Monterey Bay, CSUN, University of Redlands, Santa Ana College, Cal State Bakersfield and Cal Poly distance club. Admission to the Waves Invitational is free.
LAST TIME RACING
- The men's and women's teams competed in the UC Riverside Invitational two weeks ago, with the women collecting a 30th-place finish and the men did not have a team score due to only having four runners.
- Graduate student Will Bullock (Marietta, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain HS/Eastern Illinois) led the Waves with an 84th-place finish in a time of 24:57.3, which put him 13th on the Pepperdine all-time list.
- Sophomore Elias Spence (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area HS) was second for Pepperdine's men in a time of 25:22.5, which was good for 137th overall. This was a new personal record for Spence, as he beat his previous time by 37.2 seconds and marked his name 18th on the all-time list.
- Sophomore Megan LaCamera (Burbank, Calif./Burbank HS) led the Pepperdine women in the 6K invitational in a time of 22:18.0, which was also a new personal record by 10.1 seconds and moved her from 17th all-time to 13th.
- Senior Olivia Miller (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) was second for the Waves in the women's 6K invitational in a time of 23:07.8.
- Both the men's and women's team had a combined 19 runners set new personal records for themselves.

The Waves will hit the road in two weeks to compete in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara in Sunnyvale, Calif., on Saturday, Oct. 15. The meet will begin with the men's invitational 8K at 8:45 a.m. and the women's 6K invitational will be at 9:30 a.m., respectively.
