MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis team begins its fall campaign with a trip to Lexington, Kentucky, this weekend for the Kentucky Invite.
 
The Waves will compete over the course of three days, playing singles and doubles events each day with three other schools: Louisville, Michigan State and the host school, Kentucky. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA final last season, while Louisville was an NCAA Tournament team as well, falling to Oklahoma in the first round. Michigan State was 15-14 and fell in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
 
Pepperdine will begin competition on Friday at 1 p.m. PT, on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. PT and on Sunday at 8 a.m. PT.
 
Pepperdine will send all nine student-athletes to Lexington for the weekend. Seven returners and two newcomers will be making their debut for the Waves.
 
The Waves return seven players from an NCAA Tournament team last season, where they advanced to the second round after defeating Washington in the first round. Two newcomers join the squad this season, as head coach Adam Schaechterle welcomes a pair of freshmen to the program. Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) starts the fall ranked #15 by the ITA in singles. He is joined in the singles rankings by #45 Tim Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) and #53 Pietro Fellin (Milan, Italy). De Jonge and Linus Carlsson Halldin (Stockholm, Sweden) are ranked 59^th in doubles.
