#14 Waves and Tigers Tie 2-2

MALIBU, Calif. – After falling behind 2-0, the #14 Pepperdine women's soccer team scored twice in the final 30 minutes to gain a 2-2 tie against LSU on Thursday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
The Waves (2-0-1) dominated the offensive zone, taking 19 shots including 11 on target, compared to the Tigers' (1-0-2) seven shots with only three on target. But, the Tigers made two of their few chances count, and it took the Waves until late to get on the scoreboard. Pepperdine has currently outshot its opponents 59-12 this season.
GOALS
LSU 43': Alesia Garcia of LSU sent a right-footed through ball up the middle to Sage Glover. Glover, who was inside the box in front of the Waves' keeper, did a stutter step and sent a left-footed tap right into the back of the net.
LSU 54': The Tigers had a shot on goal that was saved by the Waves' goalkeeper, but off the rebound, the ball landed right in front of LSU's Garcia, who tapped the ball right into the back of the net.
Pepperdine 64': After a Waves' corner kick, the Tigers had a header that landed in front of redshirt senior defender Kelsey Hill (Elk Grove, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks HS/Saint Mary's) took control of the ball and sent a soft tap to senior midfielder Carlee Giammona (Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde HS/Alabama). Giammona passed it back to Hill, who chipped it from the right side to the far post, over the LSU defenders to sophomore forward Tabitha LaParl (Lakewood, Calif./Los Alamitos HS). LaParl sent a rocket that bounced off a Tiger defender and made its way into the net. This was LaParl's first goal of the season.
Pepperdine 69': Pepperdine earned a free kick on a LSU foul that was headed out by a Tigers' defender. Off the bounce, the ball landed directly at LaParl's right foot. After two dribbles, LaParl took a shot that was deflected to freshman forward Tatum Wynalda (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS). Right off the rebounnd, Wynalda sent a right-footed shot past the LSU keeper to tie the game. This was Wynalda's second goal of the season.
