MALIBU, California – Seven members of the Pepperdine men's water polo team were named to the Golden Coast Conference's All-Academic team, the league office announced today.
The seven Waves from last fall's team who were recognized are
Zach Arthur,
Sean Ferrari,
Nicholas Fichman,
Jake Howerton,
Clay Kaneko,
Balazs Kosa and
Nico Tierney.
To be nominated, student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and have played in at least 50 percent of last season's contests.
It's the second straight season that Arthur, Ferrari, Fichman and Kosa were honored. Arthur and Kaneko also received All-Academic status from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. Kosa was an All-GCC first team honoree this past season, while Ferrari, Fichman and Tierney were honorable mention.
Pepperdine's 2022 season begins September 3-4 at the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego. The Waves ended the 2021 season ranked #10 in the country. They finished 14-13 overall and tied for fifth place in the GCC.
