ANN ARBOR, Michigan – The Pepperdine women's golf team has begun the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional in a tie for eighth place after Monday's first round of competition.
The Waves need to finish in the top four to advance to the NCAA Championships but they'll start the second round six shots back of the cut line. They opened with a 300 at the par-71 University of Michigan Golf Course.
Pepperdine is competing in NCAA Regional play for the 23rd consecutive time and is looking to advance to the finals for the 13th occasion.
PLAYER SCORES
- Sophomore Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 13th place after a 73. After a slow start she was flawless over her final 10 holes, including an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole and a birdie on 8.
- Sophomore Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) is tied for 23rd after a 74. She had three birdies on the day.
- Graduate Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom) is tied for 38th after a 76. She posted one birdie.
- Junior Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i) is tied for 41st after a 77.
- Freshman Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) is tied for 59th after an 80. She had one birdie on Monday.
UP NEXT
The Waves will be paired with North Carolina and Ohio State for Tuesday's second round and they'll start on the 10th tee beginning at 8 a.m. ET.
