Conley Homers in Game Two Loss to BYU

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine baseball team dropped game two of its West Coast Conference series 6-3 to BYU on Friday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

The Waves (20-21, 8-12) had a 3-1 lead after the third inning, but a four-run top of the sixth for BYU (26-18, 10-10) put the Cougars on top and never let up. BYU clinched the series with the win.

In the top of the third inning, the Cougars scored the first run of the game and took a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the third inning, the Waves answered back. With two outs and runners on first and second, Conley crushed a three-run home run straight out to center field and gave the Waves a 3-1 lead.

The Cougars scored four runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead back at 5-3. In the top of the seventh, BYU took advantage of an error and a wild pitch to score the sixth run of the game and make it 6-3.

BYU held the Waves scoreless through the final six innings and closed out the bottom of the ninth with two fly balls and a ground out to collect the win.

The Waves and Cougars will meet for the series finale on Saturday, May 7 with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on the WCC Network.

- Sophomore infielder John Peck (Moorpark, Calif./Moorpark HS) went 3-for-5 on the day.
- Sophomore outfielder Connor Bradshaw (New Rochelle, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling HS) went 2-for-4.
- Freshman infielder Cam Conley (Lincoln University, Pa./Malvern Prep) also went 2-for-4 including a home run. Conley had three RBI and crossed the plate once.Â
