Lisa Zaar was victorious in her opening-round match on Monday afternoon at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex.
Zaar (Stockholm, Sweden), an All-WCC first-team performer, took down UCLA's #25 Abigail Forbes 6-3, 6-3 in one of the more highly anticipated first-round matches of the day.

Shiori Fukuda (Tokyo, Japan) fell 6-4, 6-1 to VCU's Paola Diaz-Delgado to end her Pepperdine career. As a top-16 seed, Fukuda has already earned All-American status.
Zaar looks to become the second All-American Wave this season when she battles #6 Sarah Hamner from South Carolina on Tuesday. At the ITA All-American Championships in October, Hamner defeated Zaar in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Savannah Broadus and
Janice Tjen, ranked 42
nd by the ITA, begin their run at the NCAA Doubles Championship on Tuesday against Florida State's Anna Arkadianou and Petra Hule.
