MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's tennis program will have four representatives in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, which run Monday through Saturday (May 23-28).

Shiori Fukuda (Tokyo, Japan) and #27
Lisa Zaar (Stockholm, Sweden) open singles competition tomorrow afternoon, while #42
Savannah Broadus (Carrollton, Texas) and
Janice Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia) are slated to begin the doubles portion of the event on Tuesday.
The pair marks the 59
th and 60
th all-time Pepperdine participants in the women's singles tournament, while Broadus and Tjen are the 29
th doubles team to compete.
Due to being a top-16 seed, Fukuda has already been named an All-American. The criteria for ITA All-America honors include earning a top 16 seed into the NCAA Singles Championship, advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship, or finishing in the top 20 of the final ITA Singles Rankings. All-America recognition is awarded to doubles teams that earn a top-eight seed into the NCAA Championship, reach the NCAA Championship quarterfinals or finish in the top 10 in the final ITA National Doubles Rankings.
Fukuda is representing Pepperdine at the singles/doubles event for the second time, as she competed in the doubles championship last year. Tjen advanced all the way to the semifinals of the singles championship last season while competing for Oregon, earning All-American status. This will be the first participation in the singles and doubles championships for Zaar and Broadus.
