ANN ARBOR, Michigan – The Pepperdine women's golf team moved up two spots and is tied for sixth place after Tuesday's second round at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.
The top four teams will advance out of the regional and on to the NCAA Championships, though unfortunately the Waves will start the final round 11 shots back of the cut line. Pepperdine has a two-day total of 604 (300-304) at the par-71 University of Michigan Golf Course and is tied with Ohio State, Virginia Tech and UCF.
Pepperdine is competing in NCAA Regional play for the 23rd consecutive time and is looking to advance to the finals for the 13th occasion.
PLAYER SCORES
- Sophomore Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) might represent the Waves' best opportunity to qualify to the NCAA Championships, as the top two individuals from non-advancing schools will move on. She's tied for 13th place at 146 (73-73). The current two qualifiers are three strokes ahead at 143. Romero had five birdies during the second round, including three in the first seven holes.
- Graduate Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom) is tied for 27th at 150 (76-74). She posted three birdies on the day.
- Sophomore Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) is tied for 48th at 156 (74-82).
- Freshman Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) is tied for 52nd at 157 (80-77). She had four birdies on Tuesday.
- Freshman Milla Sagel (Bielefeld, Germany) entered as a second-round substitute and shot an 80. She had one birdie.
UP NEXT
Wednesday's third and final round will see the Waves matched up with Virginia Tech and UCF. They'll start on the 10th tee beginning at 8 a.m. ET.
