MALIBU, Calif. – On a special Saturday at the Pepperdine Beach Volleyball Courts, seven of the #16 Pepperdine beach volleyball team were honored in a Senior Day celebration prior to sweeping past local foe CSUN.

Mary Sinclair were celebrated for each of their individual and collective contributions to the program these past years.
In the dual, the Waves (17-8) dominated in the first flight with wins on courts two and four to head into the second flight with a 2-0 advantage. Lewis and
Juju Quintero then clinched the overall dual with a two-set win in the No. 3 position before the two senior duos on courts one and five finished the day off with victories for the full sweep.

MATCH RECAPS
The Waves dominated the first flight early on, collecting first set wins on all courts.
Simone Priebe and
McKenna Thomas would be the first to score for the squad, posting an impressive 21-17, 21-12 win over Seyvion Waggoner and True McCullough in the No. 2 position.
Kate Clermont and
Cameron Baklenko then picked up a solid 21-13, 21-15 win in the No. 4 position over Kailey Klein and Victoria Rogers to put the Waves ahead 2-0 and in a position to clinch.
Jordan Benoit and
Gracie Pedersen also made quick work of Layla Cederlind and Jadin Williams on the exhibition court, posting a 21-15, 21-7 victory.
Things were not as cut and dried in the second flight, though the Waves would come out on top eventually.
Peyton Lewis and
Juju Quintero made the rest of the dual comfortable quickly, however, clinching the overall match with a 21-11, 21-18 win in the No. 3 position over Mikaela Maughan and Darbi Honeycutt.
Courts one and five were still in action and both would eventually go to three sets. Though senior duo
Madison Shields and
Melanie Paul fell 21-19 in the first set, the rallied to dominate the rest of their match in the No. 1 slot against Emily Sparks and Lauren Eknoian, winning the next two sets 21-9 and 15-8 to make it 4-0 and put all eyes on court five.
Another senior duo,
Savana Greene and
Rio Frohoff, had put in a solid 21-12 win over Madison Klungel and Abbey Sweeting in the No. 5 position, though the opposition earned a 21-19 second set win to force a third. The Waves would not be quick to roll over and gritted out a 15-9 third set win to make it a clean sweep for the home squad.

Next week, the Waves will travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the TCU Tournament, going up against tournament-host and 2
nd-ranked TCU, #9 Stanford, Houston Baptist and Missouri State on April 15 and 16.
