The Bruins (19-3, 10-1) hit .452 and wrapped up the MPSF regular-season title and hosting duties for the upcoming MPSF Tournament. The Waves (14-9, 5-5) were held to .183 hitting.

Pepperdine regained the lead at 10-9 on an ace by graduate outside hitter Alex Gettinger (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette HS), but UCLA took back the lead at 13-12. The Bruins went up by as many as three before the Waves tied it at 20 on a Dvorak service ace. But UCLA went on a 4-1 run, and after the Waves held off two set points, the Bruins finally claimed the first set.

There were four lead changes in the second set as well, but Pepperdine's last lead came at 8-7 after a UCLA attack error. With a 12-11 lead, the Bruins ran off five straight points to go up by six. Pepperdine got no closer than three the rest of the set.

Pepperdine's only lead of the third set came at 2-1. After a Jasper ace tied it at eight, the Bruins scored two straight points and led the rest of the way, taking leads of 13-9 and 23-18 before scoring the match's final two points.
