Men's Golf Wins Fourth Consecutive WCC Title

HENDERSON, Nevada – The Pepperdine men's golf team captured its fourth consecutive league title on Saturday, winning the West Coast Conference Championships by five strokes.

The Waves won their league-best 22nd WCC title overall by shooting a three-day total of a 17-under 847 (288-285-274) at the par-72 Reflection Bay Golf Club, which edged out both BYU and Loyola Marymount by five shots.

The Waves shot 14-under on Saturday, the best round of the tournament, and tied for Pepperdine's third-best round ever at the WCC Championships. The Waves needed the effort as the Lions shot 13-under and the Cougars were at 12-under on Saturday. All five Waves shot at least 2-under on Saturday.

The 17-under tied the Waves' fourth-best 54-hole score ever at the WCC Championships.

Joey Vrzich and William Mouw were both vying for the individual crown coming down the stretch but both finished tied for second, one shot back of the winner.

PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) tied for second with a 6-under 210 (71-72-67). His 5-under on Saturday included seven birdies. He had four on the front nine, then three on the back nine to get to 7-under before a couple of late bogeys.
- Junior William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) also tied for second with a 6-under 210 (74-67-69). He had six birdies during his 3-under round, including a run of four straight from holes 9-12. He led all players with a total of 17 birdies for the tournament.
- Junior Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) tied for 15th with a 1-under 215 (74-72-69). He had five birdies in the final round, including two in the final three holes.
- Senior Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) also tied for 15th with a 1-under 215 (71-74-70). His 2-under in the third round featured three birdies.
- Senior Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) tied for 19th with an even-par 216 (72-75-69). Saturday's 3-under featured four birdies.
