Tjen Receives First Career Weekly WCC Award

MALIBU, California – For the first time in her career, #103 Janice Tjen has been named the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Playing from the fourth spot, Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia) had a pair of wins on the weekend for the Waves, including a 7-5, 6-2 straight-set win over Oklahoma's #76 Ivana Corley on Sunday afternoon. She also defeated Oklahoma State's Ayumi Miyamoto 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday. The sophomore improved to 16-2 this dual season playing from the two, three, four and five positions.

One other Wave was named the Singles Player of the Week this season, as Shiori Fukuda was honored on March 22.

Pepperdine rounds out the regular season with a home match on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. against San Diego.
