MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive team wraps up the 2021-22 season with two competitions this week, as Paulina Holmberg and Lexie Martin head to Flagstaff, Ariz., and the campus of Northern Arizona for the NCAA Zone E Diving competition on Monday, while five swimmers travel to Elkhart, Ind., for the CSCAA National Invitational Championships from Thursday to Saturday.
Both Holmberg (Apple Valley, Minn./Academy of Holy Angels) and Martin (Keller, Texas/Keller HS) will participate in the 1-meter competition. There are 70 qualifiers in the 1-meter.
The two divers represent the sixth and seventh all-time NCAA zone diving qualifiers in Pepperdine swim and dive history. Elle Wade was the last diver to qualify in 2012. The diver before Wade was Lindsay (Stephens) Adarme in 2005.
The five Waves that will head to Indiana include Alexandra Browne (Arlington, Va./Washington-Liberty HS), Emily Morton (Golden, Colo./Lakewood HS), Jenna Sanchez (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley HS), McKenzie Kelly (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day School/California Baptist) and Emma Purdy (Truckee, Calif./Truckee HS).
Browne will compete in the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay, Morton will participate in the 100 IM, 200 free relay and 200 medley relay, Sanchez is in the 50 breast, 100 IM and 200 medley relay, Purdy will make an appearance in the 50 fly, 200 free relay and 200 medley relay, and Kelly will compete solely in the 200 free relay.
Competition for Pepperdine will begin at 6:30 a.m. PT on Thursday and Saturday, and 3:00 p.m. PT on Friday.
In 2020, seven Wave swimmers made the trek to Indiana, as Morton and Sanchez are return participants.
Pepperdine won its first Pacific Coast Collegiate Swim Conference team championship in February, coming in more than 100 points ahead of the runner-up while setting five new school records and winning three event championships.
