Malibu, Calif. – The #18 Pepperdine beach volleyball team swept past both CSU Bakersfield, a team receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll, and Concordia, Irvine on Saturday at the Pepperdine Beach Volleyball Courts.

The Waves improve to 11-2 this season with the wins and are currently on a five-match winning streak.Â
Mary Sinclair and
Kate Clermont clinched the dual against the Roadrunners and improved to a perfect 3-0 as a pair in the No. 3 position, while
Cameron Baklenko and
Rio Frohoff clinched against Concordia to improve to 9-3 overall this season as a pair.Â

Pepperdine closes out the weekend with a pair of matches against #10 Cal and #12 Cal Poly tomorrow at 3 and 5 p.m. respectively in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

MATCH RECAPS
In the first flight of the first match,
Simone Priebe and
McKenna Thomas started things off with a 21-17, 21-12 win over Hailee Ryan and Sarah Ostojic in the No. 2 position to set the tone early. After a tight 24-22 first set win on court four for
Peyton Lewis and
Juju Quintero, the pair learned what they needed to and commanded the second set 21-5 to make it 2-0 overall heading into the second flight. On the exhibition court,
Jordan Benoit and
Savana Greene also came back from a first set loss to take the next two 21-12, 15-6 over their Eagles opposition.

In the second flight,
Mary Sinclair and
Kate Clermont would be the Waves to clinch the overall, putting down Tatum Smith and Shannon Evans 21-11, 21-15 in the No. 3 position.Â

Pepperdine completed the sweep after
Melanie Paul and
Madison Shields dominated court one 21-10, 21-12 over Vanessa Bernzen and Hannah Phair and
Cameron Baklenko and
Rio Frohoff defeated Lauren Clifton and Nicole Miller 21-11, 21-19.Â

In the second match against the Roadrunners, Lewis and Quintero opened up the action with a 21-15, 21-14 win over Alaina Gendale and Seleisa Elisaia in the No. 4 position. Though Priebe and Thomas dropped their first set against Hana Makonova and Sophia Hladyniuk, the duo dominated the second 21-12 to force a third. The pair then picked up the Waves' second overall point with a 15-10 win in the third set. Greene and Benoit also took care of business on court six with a 21-19, 21-6 win.

Baklenko and Frohoff would be the Waves to clinch the overall in this match, collecting on a 21-13, 21-17 victory over Hayley McCluskey and Paige Calvin in the No. 5 position.Â

On court three, Sinclair and Clermont were fueled off a 21-10 first set win against Anna Unke and Brooke Boiseau, propelling to a 21-17 in the second set to extend the Waves victory to 4-0 overall. Shields and Paul finished up the sweep in the No. 1 position with a 21-18, 21-18 victory over Milica Vukobrat and Cameron Solberg to end the day.
