ELKHART, Ind. – In the culminating event of the season, the Pepperdine women's swim and dive team started out the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Thursday at the Beacon Health Aquatic Center.
The Waves competed in three events today, while one is set for Friday and one takes place on Saturday.
MEET RECAP
In the first event of the day for Pepperdine, the 50 fly,
Emma Purdy (Truckee, Calif./Truckee HS) recorded a time of 25.05, good for third place in her heat and 28
th place overall. In the 50 breast,
Jenna Sanchez (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley HS) took eighth in her heat with a 30.73 showing.
The third event for the Waves on Thursday, the 200 free relay, saw the team of
Alexandra Browne (Arlington, Va./Washington-Liberty HS),
McKenzie Kelly (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla Country Day School/California Baptist), Purdy and
Emily Morton (Golden, Colo./Lakewood HS) come in 17
th place with a time of 1:34.45.
Four swimmers competed in the time trials as well. Sanchez and Browne swam the 100 breast with times of 1:06.24 and 1:07.46, respectively, Kelly did the 50 free and had a 24.45 showing while Morton came in with a 2:06.74 time in the 200 IM.
NEXT UP: Day two of the National Invitational Championships in Indiana will commence Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. PT with the 200 medley relay.
