Waves Picked As WCC Favorites

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's tennis team was picked to win the West Coast Conference once again this spring, as announced by the league office on Monday.
 
Additionally, Shiori Fukuda and Lisa Zaar were named to the WCC Women's Tennis Preseason Team.
 
Fukuda (Tokyo, Japan), currently ranked 21st nationally in singles by the ITA, was an All-WCC first teamer in both singles and doubles last season. This season, playing solely from the one spot, she has amassed a record of 5-1 in duals.
 
Zaar (Stockholm, Sweden), ranked 12th by the ITA, was named to the All-WCC honorable mention team for both singles and doubles in 2021. Playing from the second position, she is 7-2 in duals this spring.
 
Pepperdine has won nine consecutive WCC regular-season championships and the last seven WCC Tournament titles.

Fukuda, Zaar and the rest of the Waves begin WCC play on Saturday with a home match against San Diego beginning at 12:00 p.m.
