Pepperdine to Compete in NCAA West Regional

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams are headed back to the Pacific Northwest to compete in the NCAA West Regional on Friday morning. The Waves will have eight men and eight women at the meet.

The race will be hosted by Washington at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash., on Friday (November 11). The women's 6K will start at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 10K at 11 a.m.

MEN'S TEAM
Â
Graduate student Will Bullock (Marietta, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain HS/Eastern Illinois), junior Johnathan Flint (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS), sophomore Elias Spence (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area HS) and freshman Joshua Bergers (Cohasset, Mass./IMG Academy) have been the top four runners for the Waves this season. All four Waves posted their season-best showing at the WCC Championships and have moved up on the Pepperdine all-time performance list.

Bullock ran the fastest WCC Championship men's time in program history in a time of 24:03.3, which was also a new personal record by 10 seconds. Bullock marked his name higher on the all-time list from tied for eighth to third. Bergers clocked in at 24:08.7 at the WCC Championships, which beat his previous record by one minute and 29 seconds and moved his name from 13th all-time to seventh. Flint also notched his name higher on the Pepperdine all-time list at the WCC Championships, crossing the finish line in a time of 24:34.1, which was a 12.5 second faster personal record and ninth all-time. Spence moved himself up once again on the Pepperdine all-time list from 14th to 10th with a time of 24:35.6, which was a new personal record by 36.1 seconds.

The Waves' #5 and #6 runners for the season were junior Nate Lannen (Southlake, Texas/Carroll HS) and freshman Patrick Thomas (Paso Robles, Calif./Mission College Prep). Lannen posted his season-best showing at the Bronco Invitational when he tied his personal record of 25:30.8. Thomas posted his season-best showing at the WCC Championships in a time of 25:02.2, which was 45 seconds faster than his previous personal record and marked his name 16th on the Pepperdine all-time list.

Last year at the NCAA West Regional, the men were led by alum Karl Winter in a time of 31:18.1 in the men's 10K. Flint was the number three runner for the Waves in the 2021 NCAA West Regional and collected a time of 32:27.5, which put him 14th on the Pepperdine all-time list.

WOMEN'S TEAM

Sophomores Megan LaCamera (Burbank, Calif./Burbank HS) and Eden Mittelsdorf (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS), senior Olivia Miller (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) and junior Elle Shrader (Boerne, Texas/Boerne-Samuel V. Champion HS) were the top runners for the Waves' women this season. LaCamera led four out of the five races and posted personal bests in both the 5K and 6K. LaCamera collected her new personal-best 5K time at the Mark Covert Classic in a time of 19:43.6 and kept the momentum going and notched her new 6K time in the UC Riverside Invitational in a time of 22:18.0, which moved her up on the Pepperdine all-time list from 17th to 14th. LaCamera also earned the first-ever weekly honors for the Waves, after being named the West Coast Conference women's runner of the week (9/20).

Mittelsdorf posted her season and personal best at the WCC Championships in a time of 22:46.6, which was 5.9 seconds faster. Miller also ran a season and personal best at the Bronco Invitational in a time of 22:11.5, which moved her on the all-time list from 20th to 12th. Shrader also ran both season and personal bests at the Mark Covert Classic and the Bronco Invitational. She was the #3 runner at both meets, collecting a 5K time of 20:28.6 in Brea and a new 6K time of 23:04.1 in Sunnyvale.

Freshmen Savannah Shaw (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) and Abby Winter (Edina, Minn/Southwest Chrisitan HS) have been the Waves' women's #5 and #6 runners through the season. Shaw and Winter also posted their season bests at the Bronco Invitational.
