MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's basketball team's first look at action before the season opener didn't go as planned as the Waves fell 90-74 to Cal State LA in an exhibition on Friday night in Firestone Fieldhouse.
The Waves had a 40-34 lead at the half, but the Golden Eagles turned it up a notch after the break and went into the final frame with a one-point lead at 57-56. Cal State LA took over in the final frame.
Sophomore guard
Ally Stedman (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle HS) led Pepperdine with 24 points and seven boards.
The Waves will hit the road to open the 2022-23 season by visiting the Mountain West reigning champions, UNLV, on Monday, Nov. 7. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m. and the game will be streamed on theMW.com.
