ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive program completed its first day at the second annual Utah Tech Invitational on Thursday at the UTU HPC Pool with standout performances and movement atop the record book by a host of athletes.
MEET RECAP
In the morning prelims, a pair of Waves found their way onto the all-time list in the 200 IM.
AJ Adams (Castle Rock, Colo./Valor Christian HS) recorded a time of 2:07.77, good for eighth place. Fellow freshman
Charli Sunahara (Chino, Calif./Ruben S. Ayala HS) completed her 200 IM race in 2:08.64 to mark her at 10th place. In the 50 free,
Alexandra Browne (Arlington, Va./Washington-Liberty HS) moved herself up to third place from fifth place after a 23.67 showing.
Success followed in the finals as well. The 200 free relay foursome of Browne,
Jasmine Williams (Folsom, Calif./Folsom HS),
Anna Ryan (Alamo, Calif./Monte Vista HS) and
Jenna Sanchez (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley HS) missed a school record by the slimmest margins, coming in ninth place with a time of 1:34.71. The current school record, set in 2022, is 1:34.24.
Lindsay Hemming (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte HS) won the "C" final with a time of 5:02.14 in the 500 free. In the same event,
Lexi Haymart (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Ponderosa HS) etched her name in the record books with a 5:04.80 time, good for ninth place all-time.
After the first day, Pepperdine stands in eighth place with 28 points. The leader, UC San Diego, has 256.

Ellie Monobe said: "It was a solid start for the Waves today. In this competitive environment I believe our team is rising to the challenge and putting together some substantial swims.
Lindsay Hemming had the standout race for us in the event session, edging out some tough competitors in the 500 free. Additionally, our 200 free relay team is putting together some top conference times. We're very excited to see what the next couple of days bring."
NEXT UP
Pepperdine will be back in action on Friday for day two of the Utah Tech Invitational. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. PT, while the finals follow at 4 p.m. PT. The meet can be streamed for a fee on the WAC International platform.
