MALIBU, California -- The annual tradition to kick off college basketball season was featured on Friday night as Pepperdine students, families and fans packed Firestone Fieldhouse for Blue & Orange Madness.

After the men's and women's teams were introduced, several contests were held. A team of Mike Mitchell Jr., Marly Walls and a Pepperdine student won a shooting skills competition, freshman Hailey Hoff captured the women's three-point contest and sophomore Maxwell Lewis brought home the crown in the dunk contest for the second straight year.

Fans were also treated to the national anthem being performed by Pepperdine a capella group Won by One, halfcourt shots for tuition, and performances by the cheer team, the step team, and the R&D dance crew.

The Pepperdine women's begin play with a home exhibition against Cal State L.A. on Friday, November 4, while the Waves' men begin the regular season at home against Rice on Monday, November 7.
