#15 Men's Tennis Heads to Los Angeles For ITA Kick-Off Event

MALIBU, California – The #15 Pepperdine men's tennis program makes the short trip over to USC this weekend for a competitive weekend at the ITA Kick-Off event. The winner of the four-team weekend will receive a bid to the ITA National Indoor Team Championships in Seattle from February 18-21.

SERIES HISTORY: The Waves hold a 5-0 all-time record against Denver, with the most recent matchup coming in 2013. Pepperdine split the season series with USC in 2021, defeating the Trojans on the road in the regular season before falling to USC in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Pepperdine leads the series with Harvard 12-2, having won four straight dating back to the 1999 season.

SCOUTING THE WAVES
Pepperdine battled #16 Stanford on the road to open its season but fell to the Cardinal on January 21 by a score of 5-2. Eero Vasa (Turku, Finland) and Andrew Rogers (Brentwood, Tenn.) both claimed their first dual wins for the Waves. Rogers and Pietro Fellin (Milan, Italy) took down Max Basing and Timothy Sah, the #31 doubles pair in the country, for the lone Pepperdine doubles win. The Waves took on #14 Arizona in Malibu on Sunday, January 23 for their home opener and came away with a thrilling 5-2 win. Vasa clinched the match with a three-set win on court five. Pepperdine took the doubles point, and Vasa, Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) and Eric Hadigian (Sacramento, Calif.) all won singles matches.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Denver heads to L.A. with a 1-1 record after a pair of 4-3 matches. The Pioneers defeated Rice on the road on January 16 before narrowly falling at home to Utah on January 21. USC is a perfect 3-0 after home wins against UC Davis, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and UC Irvine. Harvard sports a 2-1 record, taking down Boston College and Georgetown before falling to Virginia.
