1/29/2022 3:11:00 PM | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES, California – The #15 Pepperdine men's tennis program fought tooth and nail to advance at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, but #24 Harvard rallied late to claim the 4-3 win in Saturday's first-round matchup at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
Â
Pietro Fellin (Milan, Italy) and Andrew Rogers (Brentwood, Tenn.) made quick work of their doubles match, defeating Harvard's David Lins and Henry Von Der Schulenberg 6-2. The last two doubles matches were close throughout, but Harvard (3-1) was able to pull out wins on courts one and two, avoiding the tiebreaker in both.
Â
In singles, #72 Tim Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) was the first winner of the day for Pepperdine (1-2), defeating #86 Daniel Milavsky in straight sets. #8 Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Germany) took down #17 Henry Von Der Schulenburg in a top-20 matchup, 6-3, 6-3, to tie the match up at two. After #99 Eric Hadigian (Sacramento, Calif.) was a winner on court six, #24 Fellin dropped a three-set match on court two to set up a winner-take-all on court three. After winning set one, #15 Rogers was unable to seal the match as Harvard escaped with a three-set win on court three to win the match.
