Box Score 2 MALIBU, California – Balazs Kosa hit a major career scoring milestone for the #10 Pepperdine men's water polo team on Saturday but the Waves dropped two home games to highly ranked opponents, falling 11-9 to #3 Stanford and 14-9 to #11 Princeton.
Kosa scored twice in each match against the Cardinal (9-0) and the Tigers (9-2) to reach 200 career goals for the Waves (5-5).
BIG WAVES
- Senior attacker Balazs Kosa (Budapest, Hungary) became the 12th Wave in Pepperdine history to reach the milestone of 200 goals. He had a team-high four goals on the day.
- Sophomore Nico Tierney (Sierra Madre, Calif./Harvard-Westlake HS) scored twice against Stanford and had a team-high four assists over the two games.
- Senior utility Sean Ferrari (Redwood City, Calif./St. Francis HS) and sophomore attacker Christian Hosea (San Clements, Calif./San Clemente HS) both scored a total of three goals on Saturday.
GAME #1 RECAP
Ferrari got the Waves on the board first, but Stanford scored the next to four to take a 4-1 lead midway through the second quarter. Kosa scored just before halftime to bring the Waves within two at 5-3. The Cardinal owned the third quarter, however, tallying five goals to the Waves' one to take a 10-4 lead at the period break. Pepperdine made a game of it again in the fourth quarter, reversing things and scoring five goals to the Cardinal's one, with Tierney notching two of them.

GAME #2 RECAP
The game was tied 2-2 late in the first period when the Tigers then ran off three straight goals. The Tigers scored seven times in the second quarter to take a 10-5 lead at halftime. Goals by freshman attacker
Kyle Thomas (Covina, Calif./Loyola HS), Kosa and Ferrari made it a three-goal game at 11-8 with seven minutes to play, but Pepperdine would get no closer.
