Waves Run at UC Riverside on Saturday

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the second meet this season at the UC Riverside Invitational this Saturday morning.

The meet begins at 7:30 a.m. at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course in Riverside. The top runners will be entered in the Invitational races (women's 6K at 7:15 a.m., men's 8K at 7:50 a.m.), and there will also be Open races (women's 5K at 8:25 a.m. and men's 8K at 8:55 a.m.). The Waves will have runners in all four races.

Head Coach Lauren Floris says: "Our teams got in some great workouts these past two weeks and we are expecting them to capitalize on that gained fitness this weekend. Saturday will be a great indication of where we are as we head to Minnesota next week."

NOTABLE
- The men's and women's teams placed second and 10th, respectively, at the Mark Covert Classic two weeks ago to open the season.
- Senior Karl Winter (Stockton, Calif. /Saint Mary's HS) started the season off leading the Waves at the Mark Covert Classic on Sept. 4, where he came in first.
- Senior Kyle McCabe (Westminster, Colo./Holy Family HS) was second for the Waves in fifth place at the Mark Covert Classic.
- Senior Jackson Felkins (Southlake, Texas/Carroll Senior HS) started strong with a 14th-place finish.
- Freshmen Eden Mittelsdorf (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS) and Megan LaCamera (Burbank, Calif./Burbank HS) made their Waves debuts leading the women with a 40th-place finish for Mittelsdorf and a 50th-place finish for LaCamera at the Mark Covert Classic.
