Anderson Named WCC Offensive Player of the Week

MALIBU, California – Joelle Anderson of the #9 Pepperdine women's soccer team was named the West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. She scored two goals in two games and helped the Waves improve to a 7-1 start, defeating UC San Diego and blanking UC Santa Barbara.
Anderson (San Jose, Calif./The Harker School), a redshirt senior forward, has been a key player offensively for the Waves, registering goals in four straight games including three game-winning goals. During the matchup against the Tritons, Anderson scored a beauty of a goal through two defenders on a pass from Kelsey Adams with three minutes left in the first half. The Waves kept the goals rolling into the game against the Gauchos and after a Trinity Watson free kick in the 11th-minute, Anderson followed up with a goal of her own only one minute and four seconds in between. Anderson finished the weekend with five-points.
Anderson now sits in sole possession of fourth on Pepperdine's all-time career goals with 29. She was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week during the week of September 6. Anderson leads the Waves in goals with five and in points with 12 points.
In addition, Watson (Ocean Beach, Calif./Point Loma HS) a senior defender was named to the Top Drawer Soccer team for the second time this season.
The Waves (7-1-1) visit TCU this Thursday (September 16) at 5 p.m. PT/7 p.m. CT. The matchup will be streamed on the Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
