Woodruff a Finalist for Assistant Coach of the Year

MALIBU, California – Pepperdine's Blaine Woodruff is one of four finalists for the Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award, which is presented by TaylorMade and the Golf Coaches Association of America.

In his fourth season with the Waves, Woodruff helped lead the Pepperdine men's golf team to the 2021 national championship. Pepperdine has gone three-for-three in winning the West Coast Conference title and has advanced to two NCAA Championships (also finishing 11th in 2019) with Woodruff.

He assisted in Pepperdine reaching the #1 ranking when the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Waves had another phenomenal year in 2020-21, winning a program-record six tournaments, including the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Five Waves earned All-American status from Golfweek, and eight players were ranked among Golfweek's top 100 in the country.

The other finalists are Bill Allcorn of Oklahoma, Chance Cain of Utah and Noah Goldman of Oregon State. The Strickland Award is presented to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA or NJCAA assistant coach that, among other things, has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
