MALIBU, Calif. – Senior star
Ashley Lahey of the Pepperdine women's tennis program added yet another gem to her crown on Thursday morning as she garnered a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Team.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
The recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in sports medicine recorded a 3.96 overall GPA for her career in Malibu while playing at the No. 1 spot for the Waves most of the year. It is Lahey's second-straight such award after earning All-District accolades in the shortened 2020 season.
Lahey helped lead the Waves to a runner up finish in the 2021 NCAA Championships in a run that ultimately began with a clinch point over Stanford in the second round. While playing doubles with
Lisa Zaar, the pair went 3-2 while snatching the doubles clinch point over then-#4 UCLA which snowballed into a 4-3 win for the Waves in the tournament quarterfinals.
