Women's Golf Makes Huge Move at NCAA Regional

PALO ALTO, California – The Pepperdine women's golf team had a massive improvement at the second round of the NCAA Stanford Regional on Tuesday, putting the Waves back into contention to advance to the NCAA finals.

The Waves' score of 6-under was the second-best of the day by any team, and it moved them up from 16th place and into a tie for eighth place. Pepperdine has a two-day total of 582 (304-278) at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course.

To make the NCAA finals, teams must finish in the top six. The Waves will begin the final round just five shots out of sixth place.

Pepperdine, which is playing in its 22nd consecutive regional, is attempting to advance to the NCAA finals for the 13th time in program history and the first time since 2017.

PLAYER SCORES
  • Freshman Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 11th place with a 1-under 141 (74-67). Her 4-under today was her best round of the season. If the Waves don't advance as a team, Romero or any of the other Waves could move on as an individual if they are among the top three players from non-qualifying teams.
