SOMIS, California – The Pepperdine women's golf team had a solid second round at their own Bruin Wave Invitational on Tuesday, moving up two spots on the leaderboard after shooting one of the better scores of the day.
The Waves are in sixth place with a two-day total of 626 (319-307) at the par-72 Saticoy Club. Strong winds at a tough course again made for higher-than-usual scores, but Pepperdine was able to go 12 shots better than its first round. The Waves' 307 was the fourth-best score on Tuesday. Arizona State leads Oregon by five strokes in the team competition.
The average score in round two was 80.60.
PLAYER SCORES
- Sophomore Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i) is in sixth place at 149 (76-73). Her 1-over round today included four birdies, three on the back nine.
- Freshman Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) had the Waves' biggest jump of the day, moving up 36 spots to a tie for 21st at 158 (84-74). Her 2-over featured four birdies, three on the back nine, including both holes 17 and 18.
- Senior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom) is tied for 32nd at 160 (79-81).
- Freshman Caroline Hwang (Orlando, Fla.) is tied for 47th at 164 (85-79). She had one birdie on Tuesday.
- Freshman Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 57th at 166 (80-86).
- Playing as an individual, junior Sifan He (Shanghai, China) is 77th at 176 (90-86). She had two birdies in the second round.

Wednesday's third and final round will tee off at 8 a.m. Due to COVID-19 protocols, spectators are not permitted.
