MALIBU, Calif. – The #5 Pepperdine men's water polo team had an offensive explosion on Sunday, defeating #6 Loyola Marymount 19-7 in the final of a three-game home stand at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.
The Waves (6-2) did not let up on the attack, but also had great defense, only allowing the Lions (4-4) 25 shots on the afternoon.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Pepperdine scored early and often, as Nico Tierney (Sierra Madre, Calif./Mater Dei HS), Balazs Kosa (Csik Ferenc Általános Iskola és Gimnázium) and Curtis Jarvis (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS) all scored in the first quarter. Kent Emden started in goal for the Waves and didn't allow a goal in the first eight minutes, giving the Waves a 3-0 lead after a quarter.
