MALIBU, Calif. – the Pepperdine women's basketball team hosted Pacific on Thursday night, falling 73-64 in Firestone Fieldhouse. Monique Andriuolo and Kendyl Carson both had 14 points on the night.

The Waves (4-15, 1-14 WCC) and Tigers (8-10, 6-9 WCC) were tied at the half, but Pacific pulled away in the second half.

BIG WAVES

Senior forward Monique Andriuolo (Melbourne, Australia/Maribyrnong Secondary College) had 14 points, which was tied for the team lead. She also led the Waves with 11 rebounds. This was her third double-double of the year.
Freshman guard Kendyl Carson (Juneau, Alaska/Juneau Douglas HS) also had 14 points, a career high. She shot 5-for-8 from the field and made a three-pointer. She also had five rebounds and two assists.
Redshirt-sophomore Jayda Ruffus-Milner (North Hills, Calif./Harvard-Westlake HS) had a season-high 13 points, shooting 4-for-6 and making the only three-point shot she took.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The two teams played a very tight first quarter. Pacific jumped out to an early 12-6 lead, but the Waves scored five unanswered points to cut the lead to one. After the first quarter, the Tigers led 14-13. In the second, the two teams went back and forth, as there were four ties. Pepperdine outscored the Tigers 15-14 and went to the break tied at 28. Carson had seven of her 14 points in the second quarter.

Pepperdine kept it close in the first half of the third quarter, but Pacific took a nine-point lead with three minutes to play and would never give the lead up again. The Tigers led 53-45 going into the final ten minutes of play. Pacific led by as many as 14 in the fourth quarter, but the Waves fought to get it back to single-digits with three minutes to play, but could not complete the comeback.

KEY STATS

Pacific outshot Pepperdine 47% to 38%.
The Waves shot the deep ball better, making 45% of their three-pointers, while the Tigers shot just 28% from beyond the arc.
Pacific capitalized off of turnovers better, scoring 16 points off takeaways compared to just eight points from Pepperdine.
The Tigers edged out the Waves at the glass, bringing down 37 boards, while the Waves had 34.

The Waves have their final home game of the year on Saturday, taking on Saint Mary's at 2 p.m. Pepperdine will honor its three seniors in a ceremony before tip-off.
