Box Score LOS ANGELES – The #5 Pepperdine men's water polo team faced off against another top-five team on Sunday, falling to #4 USC 13-7 at Uytengsu Aquatics Center. Balazs Kosa led all scorers with five goals.

The Waves (3-2) led the Trojans (4-5) after the first quarter of play, but the Trojans had too much offense in the following quarters.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Waves and Trojans had a very competitive first quarter, with just three goals between the two teams. Balazs Kosa (Csik Ferenc Általános Iskola és Gimnázium) had both goals for the Waves, scoring a six-on-five goal and a five-meter penalty shot. Quarter two was all Trojans. Curtis Jarvis (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS) got the Waves' lone goal in the period, but USC led 7-3 at the half.

After the break, the Trojans picked up right where they left off, scoring three goals to the Waves' one, another Kosa five-meter penalty goal. The Trojans led 12-4 after three quarters of play. Sean Ferrari (Redwood City, Calif./St. Francis HS) got his first goal of the game early into the fourth quarter to bring the Waves to within seven. After a the only goal of the quarter from USC, Kosa's fourth goal of the day was his third penalty goal. His fifth of the day came soon after, getting the Waves to within six of the Trojans, but the Waves couldn't get any closer.
