Box Score LOS ANGELES – The #5 Pepperdine men's water polo team got its first win over a fellow top-10 team on Saturday, defeating PCH Cup rival LMU 14-11 on the Road.
Balazs Kosa led all scorers with five goals.
The Waves (3-1) had five different goal scorers in the game, defeating the Lions (3-4) at Burns Aquatic Center.

The Waves got going early, as Kosa (Csik Ferenc Általános Iskola és Gimnázium) got his first goal of the day thanks to a five-meter penalty shot. He scored the next goal for the Waves as well to put the Waves up 2-0. After an LMU goal,
Jake Howerton (Cardiff, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) extended the Waves' lead 3-1. The Lions scored four goals in a row to take a 5-3 lead before
Nico Tierney (Sierra Madre, Calif./Harvard-Westlake HS) got the Waves to back within a goal before the quarter ended. Kosa tied the game at five in the second quarter with his second penalty shot. Pepperdine allowed just a single goal in the second quarter while getting goals from
Nicholas Fichmann (Sao Paolo, Brazil/Orange Coast College) and Howerton along with Kosa's penalty to give the Waves a 7-6 halftime lead.
Pepperdine took the game over after the half, and never trailed again. In the third, Kosa had two more goals, getting his total to five. The Waves also had goals from
Austin Smit (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) and
Sean Ferrari (Redwood City, Calif./St. Francis HS) to take an 12-8 lead into the fourth quarter. Ferrari and Smit each got another goal in the fourth to cement the victory.
