Waves Earn 25th All-Time Bid to NCAA Tournament

MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine women's volleyball team earned the program's 25th all-time bid into the NCAA Women's Volleyball Division Tournament, as announced on ESPNU Sunday afternoon.
 
The Waves will take on UCF in the first round at 4:30 p.m. PT on Friday, December 3 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.  The winner of Waves versus Knights will face the winner between #13 seed UCLA and Fairfield on Saturday, December 4.  The other side of this part of the bracket features #4 Wisconsin, Texas Tech, FGCU and Colgate. 
 
Regional Semifinals will December 9-11 at non-predetermined campus sites.  The rest of the National Championships will take place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.  The National Semifinals will be held December 16 at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. PT on ESPN.  The National Championship will take place December 18 at 4:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2.

WCC IN THE BRACKET
Three teams from the West Coast Conference made the tournament.  In addition to the Waves, BYU earned the #11 seed and San Diego also made the tournament.
 
PAST WAVES IN THE SHOW
Pepperdine has made the tournament three of the last four seasons, making second round finishes in both 2018 and the Spring 2021 campaign.  Last season, the Waves went 17-4 overall and 16-2 in the league.  In the tournament, the squad first swept past UMBC in the opening round before falling to #12 seed Baylor in five sets to close things out. 
 
This is the 25th appearance for the Waves' all-time with the first-ever appearance occurring in the 1984.  Pepperdine has earned an appearance in 16 NCAA tournaments in the past 25-years.  In 2011, Pepperdine made an NCAA Elite 8 appearance, finishing 6th nationally overall in the final rankings and sporting a 25-7 overall record.
