IRVINE, California – The Pepperdine men's basketball team fell at UC Irvine, 82-48, on Saturday night.
The Waves (2-3) had their five-game winning streak against the Anteaters (3-1) snapped.
BIG WAVES
- Graduate transfer forward Keith Fisher III (Los Angeles, Calif./Illinois State) had a team-high 13 points.
- Senior guard Jade' Smith (Oakland, Calif./St. Joseph Notre Dame HS) had 11 points.
PLAY BY PLAY
Pepperdine led a couple of times early in the game but the Waves' last lead came at 8-7 after a basket by freshman guard
Mike Mitchell Jr. (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty HS). The Anteaters led 14-12 after a Mitchell lay-up, but UCI then went on 10-0 run to double up the Waves at 24-12 with eight minutes left. The biggest lead of the half was 17 at 34-17. Pepperdine ended the half on a 7-2 run to make it 36-24.
The Waves couldn't close the gap any in the second half, as UCI went up 58-37 with 10 minutes to go and 76-46 with 3 1/2 minutes left.

- Pepperdine was outshot 50.0% to 33.3%.
- UCI enjoyed a 21-5 edge in points off turnovers, as the Waves committed 17 to the Anteaters' eight.
- UC Irvine was credited with 11 steals to Pepperdine's zero.
