FORT WORTH, Texas – The Pepperdine men's golf team completed the Colonial Collegiate Invitational with a fifth-place finish on Tuesday.

The Waves shot a two-day total of 846 (277-284-285) at the par-70 Colonial Country Club. Pepperdine went into the third round with a small lead but ran into a few tough holes on both the front nine and back nine. The tournament featured another elite field with many of the nation's best teams.

PLAYER SCORES

Senior Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) tied for ninth place with an even-par 210 (72-68-70). His even-par round included three birdies. This was his 13th career top-10 finish.
Senior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) tied for 11th at 211 (68-73-70). He had two birdies during an even-par round.
Senior Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) tied for 20th at 213 (69-70-74). He had one birdie today. He had 41 pars in all, tied for the tournament high.
Junior William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) tied for 25th at 214 (70-73-71). He posted three birdies in the final round.
Junior Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) tied for 51st at 221 (70-75-76). He had three birdies today.

UP NEXT

Pepperdine's third and fourth tournaments of the fall are at the end of the month in Georgia. The Waves play in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate (Oct. 22-24), followed by the East Lake Cup (Oct. 25-27).
