Waves Fall on the Road

MORAGA, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's basketball fell on Thursday night in a West Coast Conference matchup with Saint Mary's, 79-61. Monique Andriuolo led the way with 14 points for the Waves.
The Waves (3-5, 0-3 WCC) never led the Gaels (3-10, 1-6 WCC), who kept the pressure on the entire game.
BIG WAVES
Saint Mary's opened the game on a 7-0 run, and never gave up the lead throughout the whole game. The Waves had a small 5-0 run toward the end of the first, but the Gaels led 21-13 after 10 minutes. Pepperdine got to within six points in the second, the closest the game got, but trailed 38-27 at the half.
The Gaels let the Waves get back to double digits just once more in the game, halfway through the third quarter, but kept the pressure on, and pulled away in the fourth, pushing their lead to as many as 20 points.

The Waves remain up North to take on Pacific on Saturday at 2 p.m. The game against the Tigers will be broadcast on the WCC Network.

- Senior forward Monique Andriuolo (Melbourne, Australia/Maribyrnong Secondary College) led the Waves with 16 points, shooting 4-for-6 on the night and 1-for-2 from beyond the arc. She also led the Waves with six rebounds.
- Junior guard Malia Bambrick (Santa Clarita, Calif./Bishop Alemany HS) had 11 points and made three three-point shots on the night.
