MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's golf team is picking up right where it left off, with a #1 ranking in the initial Bushnell Golfweek coaches poll of the 2020-21 season.
The Waves were ranked #1 in the coaches poll when the 2019-20 season ended in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pepperdine had an exceptional fall season, winning the prestigious East Lake Cup and a pair of West Coast Conference events, to get ready for the spring.
The Waves received nine out 17 first-place votes, with #2 Oklahoma getting five and #3 Vanderbilt and #10 Arizona State each receiving three. Texas and Georgia round out the top five.
Pepperdine, which is currently ranked #2 as a team in the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin computer rankings, resumes play with its own Southwestern Invitational presented by Topgolf from January 25-27 at North Ranch Country Club. The event will feature live coverage on the Golf Channel.
