RANCHO PALOS VERDES, California – Momoka Kobori fired an even-par 71 to help the Pepperdine women's golf team get the spring season started on Sunday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
An afternoon rain delay caused four of the 16 teams to be unable to finish before darkness set in at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Waves completed round one in 16th place with a score of 307.
The tournament boasts a remarkable field with all of the top seven teams in the country according to Golfstat rankings, as well as 12 top-25 teams.
PLAYER SCORES

- Senior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) is tied for ninth place with her 71. After going 2-over early, she had birdies on 16, 4 and 5 to go 1-under before finishing at even-par.
- Freshman Alexa Melton (Covina, Calif./South Hills HS) is tied for 29th with a 74. All three of her birdies came in succession as she began the back half of her round on 1, 2 and 3.
- Sophomore Sifan He (Shanghai, China) is tied for 74th with an 81. She had one birdie.
- Junior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom/Florida Tech) is also tied for 74th with an 81.
- Freshman Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i/Maui HS) is in 83rd place with an 84.

The remaining groups will finish early on Monday morning, and then the second round will tee off at 9 a.m.
